With a PC-user interface, Handset Manager by Mobil Action administers a full suite of functions including contacts, calendar and messaging, but with a $39.95 MSRP for USB connection or $49.95 for Blutetooth, what’s most impressive are the incredible multi-media editing tools.

The MP3 clipper, for example, allows users to take an MP3 from their computer or the Internet and clip a portion to create their own ringtones or use MP3s to lay in sound on the Video Editor. The Video editing function has the drag and drop features that make it simple to edit video clips taken from the cell phone and edit them together with transitions and text.

There’s also an Audio Composer that allows users to compose and edit personal polyphonic ring tones with up to 128 different instruments.  The Music Manager is an MP3 player and file management module so users can easily manage their own mobile music. They can move music from their PC to cellular phone, create play lists, and more, just as you would use iTune to manage your iPod.  The software also has modules that allow organization and picture managing such as Photo Wizard for editing pictures.

Content with 500 free ringtones and 500 free pictures are included and it supports the gamut of phone manufacturers as well as 20 languages. For even better sync capabilities, Handset Manager also has a large number of OEM partners such as Alcatel, NEC, Sharp, Panasonic, Philips, Asus, BenQ, SonyEricsson and Gigabyte.

Handset Manager supports most mobile phones, covering more than 600 GSM/CDMA/3G models, and offers four PC-to-Handset connection alternatives: USB cable (that doubles as a phone charger while connected to the PC) and Bluetooth.

Not all functions are supported in all phones and users are strongly urged to check the Mobile Action’s website for their particular needs.  The website also contains product tutorials and a link to CNET’s coverage of the software in a “Weekend Project” tutorial.

Etrend, Inc. is a major distributor for the Handset Manager.
