IP cameras deliver video to Internet and mobile phones.  WiFi distributed with the help of 3JTech’s cellular routers help provide the video feed from
WiFi-enabled cameras…

Imagine a security camera that streams video.  Now imagine connecting to it and peering into a camera-monitored location, from anywhere with an Internet connection.

That possibility is exactly what 3JTech is pushing with their IP cameras and cellular routers.  With the cellular router as an IP distribution device, and a camera having its own IP, the camera and monitor become point-to-point connections, no matter where you place one, or the other. So long as you are connected through any network to the Internet, you can call-up the IP of your camera from a mobile phone, a remote computer on the other side of the world, or just in the next building.

For some retailers, this is an awesome security and monitoring opportunity, and for others it’s the perfect dealer product in the wireless store because it can also use the cellular network through 3JTechs cellular router.  Of course the system also works with traditional Ethernet routers as well.

3JTech is a manufacturer headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan but still has a foothold in the US with its founder having earned his doctorate from the Colorado School of Mines.  With an office in California, the company has major customers in the security industry and is looking to reach out to wireless retail distribution because of their recent plug-and-play models that make it easy for cellular data customers, individuals and businesses, to establish surveillance at a reasonable cost and with reasonable ease.

Just plug the camera or video gateway to a router and you are ready for remote viewing of your video feed.  3JTech’s IP cameras and Video Gateway will work with dynamic IPs using their Infoserver system, which matches the unique camera ID, (based on its MAC address), to its current IP address, worldwide and works automatically.  You can have as many IP cameras and gateways as your router can connect with their system.

3JTech’s Wifi cameras work with their low-cost, Dedicated Wifi Router (DWR), WifiSwitch_USB, and G2Wifi. The Wifi camera acquires the SSID and password from the Wifi Router through a wired connection when the router is powered on. All you’ll do is switch the Wifi camera to ‘Wifi mode’, and move the camera wherever you want video.

The Dedicated Wifi Router is a “Wifi access point” with 3JTech’s protocols already built-in.  This makes the camera free from settings for SSID and password, which helps with the plug and play functionality.  3JTech’s cellular wifi router, WifiSwitch_USB, or G2Wifi II also work as dedicated routers because of their built-in protocol.

Viewing the video feed on a PC is enabled with the use of a proprietary application that is provided free for download to the PC.  But you can also view video through Remote Cameras Service Servers, (RCS), web site provided by 3JTech, or its partners, with an account. An RCS module can also be provided to add to your own website.

3JTech’s RCS offers: hard disk space for event image storage; SMS/e-mail upon event with an RTSP or HHT link for live view; and HTTP / RTSP view via mobile phone Customers are also allowed to setup their own RCS if they commit to a volume, and the company will help to set-up RCS servers.

About the cameras, how far you can we see an object depends on the viewing angle of the lens. The narrower the lens’ viewing angle, the farther the camera can “see.”

Developer kits for are also available for 3JTech’s IP cameras and video gateways. The differences between their IP cameras and other conventional IP cameras, according to their website, http://www.3jtech.com, is that these products have “Plug and Play” functionality, “are easy to use”, and can be used in multiple situations.
