Finally a back-up power mini charger has a universal adapter for mobile phones and PDAs and gives a serious charge.

If I were a jingle writer, the commercial for this product might go: (dramatic opening) - ta dut du dut duh duh: “Is your mobile unit dead but you’ve still got more to say? Just Socket Tuit! and have a nice day.” It’s a good thing I don’t write jingles, but this little invention by David Cosh, c o - o w n e r of Freedom Quest, Inc. deserves a big entrance.

His company is in the process of manufacturing the first iteration of Socket TuitTM, which is an emergency back-up power and mini charger for mobile devices, and it doesn’t need special connectors.

“We believe the product is going to be very successful”, Cosh says understatedly. “Everyone who has heard about it is really excited and we are already getting pre-orders.”

Socket TuitTM enters the mobile market at a time when a lack of standards in product design is causing a great deal of problems in technology advancement. With regard to chargers, every phone manufacturer has their own adapter - making it difficult for consumers to minimize the number of connectors they need.

Energizing a dead battery on a mobile device for a few more hours of use, some might say, could save a life - however there are downsides to retailing most chargers.

How do you keep the right supply of adapters? Having a back-up power supply around is useless without the right connector. When Cosh was exploring that problem, he decided to look at the charger from its backside and work toward the front. It occurred to him that the cigarette lighter is a universal power connection, so why not start there to bring extra battery life to the mobile phone, or any mobile device that can be fitted with a car charger.

Socket TuitTM delivers a whopping nine hours talk time according to technical specs that were reported in the lab. Also, in “charge” mode, the unit will recharge a mobile phone multiple times on one set of (2) AA batteries! And while that is exciting news, ironically Cosh didn’t know about that until after it was built.  He had created the product because of its marketing upside.

Research showed that a minimum of 50 and up to 80 percent of all mobile phone sales - at least in the suburbs - resulted in a DC car charger purchase. “Anyone with a car charger can use the Socket TuitTM mini charger” he says adding, “It can also be hung off your belt, put in your pocket, purse, or lay on the table while connected to the mobile unit,” says Cosh adding, “which relieves the stress on the moble phone connection port that other power chargers cause.”

Socket TuitTM has a simple design and the problem that it solves for the consumer packs a punch, but the Socket TuitTM back-up charger is just the beginning for Freedom Quest, Inc.’s product development plans. “With car chargers being pervasive world-wide, we are primed for the international market”, says Cosh.

With its “problem solved” vision and genuine usefulness factor, Socket TuitTM has a really good chance at being Wireless Dealer Magazine’s top stocking stuffer for 2008’s Christmas season.
